These requirements apply to all video and audio files published online by or on the behalf of the University of Georgia, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and/or UGA Extension.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your multimedia files meet these requirements.
All online University of Georgia content must meet requirements for federally-funded institutions as established by Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act. For multimedia this means a text transcript, synchronized captions, and a video description are required.
The Office of Communications and Creative Services can help produce captions and descriptive text for videos produced by or on the behalf of CAES and UGA Extension. Uploading audio or video files directly to CAES Web servers is NOT allowed. You should not use Contribute to upload a video to your website. Instead, embed or link to videos from your Contribute site.
Embedding video files
Embedding a video allows a web page visitor to view the video directly from your website.
If you would like to embed an accessible video or playlist into your CAES or UGA Extension website, contact the CAES Web Team (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Videos that do not originate from official CAES or Extension channels should not be embedded into your website. Your Web page should link out to these videos instead.
Linking to video files
Linked videos are also expected to meet the accessibility and legal requirements as outlined above. If a linked video is not accessible, contact the video owner and ask them to send you a link to the captioned version of the video. If this is not possible, look for a comparable resource that meets these requirements.
