Conservation Tillage: Cover Crops

Sorghum

SorghumSorghum is a tall-growing annual grass. It is often used as a living mulch, having some alleopathic tendencies, and produces a great deal of dry matter. Sorgum grows so well, in fact, that its growth can sometimes be difficult to curb. Sorghum seed may contain some johnsongrass hybrids. The seed is also subject to freeze, so plant after danger of frost is past.

Seed 30-40 lb/A. Late spring to early summer.

Back - Buchwheat
Next - Sudangrass
