PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Extension Academy for Professional Excellence is a professional development opportunity available to select early- to mid-career Extension faculty who are dedicated to fulfilling Extension’s mission and have demonstrated potential as future leaders of the organization. The program is open to both county and state faculty. A minimum of five years in Georgia Cooperative Extension and nomination for selection by a District Director or Unit Head is required.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

  1. The leader can articulate their personal strengths and opportunities for growth.
  2. The leader can create strategies to assert their strengths and enhance weaknesses.
  3. The leader can apply personal development strategies through executing an individual project.

PARTICIPANTS’ COMMITMENT:

  • Make a personal commitment to self-development...
  • Share accomplishments in program post-assessments...
  • Be willing to serve as an instructor for future classes...
  • Represent Extension as an ambassador by reflecting excellence...
  • Promote program to other Extension faculty.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE / CONTENT:

Three sessions will be conducted, September 20-22 and December 13-15, 2016 both at the Graduate in Athens with the final meeting and graduation March 21-23, 2017 at Rock Eagle Founders Lodge.

Institute I: Discovering Self focuses on understanding self with assessments MBTI and CPI 260. Participants will be assigned Mentors, Peer Coaching Teams, and work on a personal development plan to enhance their personal leadership.

Institute II: Discovering Self with Others provides strategies for working effectively with conflict and teams.

Institute III: Discovering Self as a Brand focuses on developing your personal brand, leadership book presentations, continued peer coaching and mentor dialogue and graduation.
