UGA Tifton Campus Christmas Breakfast:

The annual Christmas breakfast was a hit this year, and there are so many people to thank. Thanks to the Bluegrass Band from Tifton First United Methodist Church for their outstanding music. The bluegrass and Christmas music was incredible. FYI, they put together the Christmas music especially for us. So thanks again to Angie Carr, John Bernard, Albert Culbreath, Mark Peterman, Tom Mark, Mike Delk, and Harris Tucker for getting us in the Christmas spirit with their music.

About 350 signed up for the breakfast and we had the ballrooms filled. Thanks to everyone for coming. Special appreciation to the Social Committee, chaired by Teri Hughes, for decorations and for coordinating the event. Thanks to the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center staff for set-up for the event, and to B. J. Smith for the excellent food. I believe the event got the campus off to a good start in preparation for the upcoming holidays.

Campus food drive:

A drive to collect non-perishable food items for local food pantries was begun at the Christmas Breakfast. A lot of food was collected for those in need. We will continue to collect food for the next week. Bring non-perishable items to the Assistant Dean's office. There will be containers there to leave food items in. Please let your associates know that we are doing this, and together we can help folks who are in need of food. Thanks for your contributions thus far. We will collect food items through next Friday, Dec. 10.

Reception for elected officials:

On Wednesday of this week a reception was held for elected state and federal elected officials in the area. Hosted by the Tifton/Tift County Chamber of Commerce, the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center partnered with the Chamber to hold the event. Recognized were newly elected Congressman Austin Scott, State Senator John Crosby, State Representative Jay Roberts, and newly elected State Representative Tony McBrayer. The event was to recognize these key legislators and express appreciation for their service.
