Stripling Irrigation Research Park Field Day:

The Stripling Irrigation Research Park Field Day was held on Tuesday, June 29 at the park in Camilla. The event was well attended (about 120 were there for lunch) and a number of scientists from the Tifton Campus were there to discuss on-going research projects. Several members of the CAES administration attended, including Dean Scott Angle. Following the field day the SIRP Advisory Committee met to discuss the park and opportunities to advance the programs conducted there. Thanks to Calvin Perry (superintendent) and staff for an outstanding day.

CAES Administrative Retreat:

The administrative team for the CAES met at Rock Eagle on Wednesday evening and Thursday to start planning for the next legislative session and next fiscal year. During these challenging times having contingency plans in place has helped the College to meet the budgetary challenges we have faced in recent months.

Weather challenges:

In case you thought you had a bad day recently, Dr. John Bernard and the staff at the UGA Tifton Dairy Research Center had a particularly bad time late Sunday afternoon. Apparent straight line winds blew down a 60 foot silo on top of an adjacent building. Fortunately no people or animals were injured.

Independence Day Holiday:

As we celebrate the birth of the United States of the America, I believe we are blessed to live in a country where we enjoy the freedoms and the opportunities that we have. Have a safe and happy holiday! (Turn off the lights and the air conditioning before you leave!)
