Georgia Cotton Conference

was held this past Wednesday with excellent attendance and outstanding production workshops. Thanks to Phillip Roberts and others for your leadership in this event. As always, a special thanks to the Cotton Commission and all they do for this campus.

The Ag Forecast Breakfast

was here in Tifton this past Thursday. Tifton was the fourth out of 5 sites in the Ag Forecast series. The informative breakfast meeting was well attended by Ag professionals from all over. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the Ag Snapshots booklet that was passed out, contact my office and I will send you an electronic version.

Georgia Peanut Farm Show:

Dr. Tim Brenneman received the 2010 Research and Education Award from the Georgia Peanut Commission during the 34th annual Georgia Peanut Farm Show held last week, Jan. 21. The main focus of his program has been to develop improved methods of disease control that are practical and will help growers be more profitable. "Georgia farmers are able to persevere and succeed in this world economy through Dr. Brenneman's research and technological advancements and his service to agronomy, breeding, agricultural economics and quality as it relates to disease management," says Armond Morris, Georgia Peanut Commission chairman. "Dr. Brenneman has set very high standards for others to follow in peanut disease management research." Congratulations Dr. Brenneman on a well deserved award.

Graduate Spotlight

Dylan Wann, a master's student in crop and soil sciences, is studying under Dr. Scott Tubbs on the UGA Tifton campus where he researches how to maximize crop yields and grow organic foods effectively.
