*NOTE:  On June 15 this experiment site received severe straight-line winds and rain causing 100% lodging of the
sorghum silage plants that were in the "boot" stage of growth.  There was no indication that the completely lodged
plants would recover.  The decision was made to immediately harvest the plots (6-17-03 harvest) and make a
second harvest of the regrowth or "ratoon" crop (9-02-03 harvest).

Planted: April 28, 2003.
Harvested: June 17, 2003 and September 2, 2003 (see note above).
Seeding Rate: 150,000 seed/acre in 30" rows.
Soil Type: Tifton loamy sand.
Soil Test: P = High, K = Medium, and pH = 5.9.
Fertilization: Preplant:  40 lb N, 80 lb P2O5, and 120 lb K2O/acre.  Sidedress:  60 lb N/acre after 1st harvest.
Previous Crop: Winter forage.
Management: Paraplowed, subsoiled and bedded, rototilled; Atrazine, Basagran, and two cultivations used for
weed control; Telone II used for nematode control; irrigated 0 inches.
