Georgia-Florida Tobacco Tour - June 12-14, 2017

Invitation and General Schedule

You and your co-workers are invited to attend the 2017 Georgia-Florida Tobacco Tour.

The tour will begin with a Kick-Off Supper near Blackshear, Georgia, on Monday, June 12, and end near Live Oak, Florida on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

JUNE 12, 2017

The tour will begin with a Kick-Off Supper at Johnson's Pond House in Blackshear, Georgia. Supper will be served at 7:00 p.m.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Quality Inn and Suites (formerly Holiday Inn) in Waycross, Ga. (PH: 912-283-4490). Identify yourself as part of the "Tobacco Tour" for special rates. Other hotels to include the Holiday Inn Express and the Hampton Inn are available in the area.

JUNE 13, 2017

Tuesday morning, the tour will leave from the Quality Inn and Suites parking lot at 7:30 a.m. to visit several Georgia tobacco farms, on-farm demonstrations (varieties, TSWV, insect control demonstrations) and producers.

Lunch will be in Georgia. After noon, we will visit several additional on-farm demonstration sites (TSWV, insect control demonstrations) in Georgia and end in Tifton, Ga., for the evening.

Tuesday evening, the Georgia Tobacco Tour headquarters will be theHoliday Inn Express : Tifton in Tifton, GA. (PH: 229- 382-3300) located off Exit 62 on I-75 and GA Hwy 82. Identify yourself as part of the "Tobacco Tour" for special rates. Complimentary breakfast is included with the room. Other hotels to include the Hampton Inn and Fairfield Inn are available in the area. Directions for supper will be available at check-in.

JUNE 14, 2017

Wednesday morning, the tour will leave the Hampton Inn at 7:30 a.m. and visit the Bowen Farm of the Coastal Plain Experiment Station on the University of Georgia Tifton Campus. We will have lunch at the Tifton Campus Conference Center in Tifton, Ga.

After lunch, we will visit additional on-farm demonstrations (Released Variety Demonstration) and Florida tobacco producers and a Released Varieties Demonstration in Suwannee County, Florida. The tour will end near Live Oak, Florida. No meal is planned and no hotel has been designated.

Additional details of the schedule and driving directions will be added the week before the tour. We look forward to having you join us for the tour.
