Instruction

Librarians can provide instruction in many different contexts. Students are probably most familiar with seeing librarians answering questions at the reference desk. Students may also see librarians giving instruction in the following settings:

Email: send an email message any time to griflib@uga.edu and we will answer your questions.

Chat: contact us by chat;  short questions are most appropriate for chat sessions.

Problem-based learning: the librarian works with groups, typically of 6-8 students at a time, exploring how information strategies can be employed to provide information necessary to solve problems which arise in case studies of a subject area. This most often takes place as part of an academic course.

Course-integrated instruction: the librarian works with students during one or more sessions of an academic course.

On our website: You will find tutorials and guides on our website. These my be specific to a particular academic course or may cover more general aspects of how to use the library.
